Ahh. November. Where is the time going? Only 4 months till furlough! Yikes! There is so much to do before then! But one thing at a time, right?
Right now, our home has a few sick people…mainly Cameron, but Melodie as well. Just colds, but respiratory ailments affects Cameron more severely with his allergies. He’s getting some energy back, so we’re thankful for little steps. It makes me realize that kids bouncing off the walls are better than kids slumping on the couch with no energy!
Last week, the kids and I (Susan) were invited to go on an outing with an elderly Christian couple and their daughter. They said we could feed birds peanuts from our hands! The kids were excited. We drove up and around curvy roads to the summit of a mountain, and held out our hands in hope. However, that day it was a holiday and there was some sort of marathon taking place up and down the mountain. (It looked painful, and I saw many limping people!) However, with all the added activity, the birds were not there. The couple apologized over and over, but I enjoyed other aspects of the outing. We ate together, and they bought dessert for us, too, which was a “dream,” as Cameron put it. You can’t outgive Japanese people!
This month is busy! Norman has several speaking appointments, a week-long art exhibition/sale, and the need to begin calling American pastors to set up meetings for furlough. Susan and the kids have homeschool each weekday, and Susan tries to meet with several female teammates each week. We will share a Thanksgiving meal with fellow missionaries and possibly our immediate teammates, too. And other things pop up week by week to make life interesting and full! However, we seek to find fulfillment in Christ alone, not in our accomplishments. We hope your November is a good one!
